Welcome to the new website

Welcome to the new website

If you previously visited our old website you may have noticed things look a little different... the Church logo is different. The website itself looks completely different, even the URL has changed! So why has this happened?

The logo

Lets start with the logo. The one question that will probably cross your mind is "what's with the anchor"? well Hebrews 6:19 says:

"We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." - Hebrews 6:19

So the hope we have as Christians is like an anchor for our souls. So after a lot of sketching and ideas (some of which seemed great at the time, and then later we realised were awful) we came up with the logo you now see, incorporating the anchor into the O. We really like it and think it is clean and simple.

The URL

So the bit at the end of a website address is called the "top level domain". Traditionally these have been .com, .co.uk, .org. But for the last few years a bunch of new ones have appeared. So now we get to use .church. Which is great! Because we are not in america, a UK company or an organisation... we are part of God's kingdom in Pontypridd, the Church! So it makes sense really.

The Website

So the system we used before was a system called church insight. This was great for a time but it wasn't mobile and tablet friendly which is a really important factor in modern websites. So it's had a complete overhaul to make it mobile and tablet friendly and every effort has been made to simplify the user experience for visitors to the site.  Both on desktop and other devices.

Feedback

It's early days for the website. So there are going to be bugs and things that need tweaking. If you come across something that looks a bit rubbish or is hard to use please use the contact form to get in touch.

Happy surfing
